When you hear the term G30S/PKI, what comes to your mind?
1. An old documentary film?
2. A boring history lesson?
3. Or maybe... you're not really sure what it is?
Well, instead of staying confused, let’s talk about the G30S/PKI incident in a way that's more relatable and easy to understand for us, Gen Z.
📌 What Is G30S/PKI?
G30S/PKI stands for the 30 September Movement by the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) in 1965. It was an attempted coup to take over the government that led to the murder of 7 high-ranking army generals.
These generals were kidnapped, killed, and their bodies were thrown into a pit located in Lubang Buaya, East Jakarta. This tragedy became one of the most critical turning points in Indonesian history.

We live in a digital age where information is just a tap away. But sometimes, that also means we’re easily exposed to misinformation. Learning history is important because:

📅 A Quick Timeline of the G30S/PKI Incident
Here's a simplified version:
September 30, 1965 (Night): The movement begins. Several army generals are kidnapped by Cakrabirawa troops influenced by the PKI.
October 1, 1965: The public learns about the abductions. General Suharto takes control and leads a counter-operation.
October 3, 1965: The bodies of the seven generals are found in a pit at Lubang Buaya.
Aftermath: The PKI is disbanded and declared a forbidden organization in Indonesia.

These are the names of the Revolutionary Heroes who were killed:
1. Jenderal Ahmad Yani.
2. Mayor Jenderal Raden Soeprapto.
3. Mayor Jenderal Mas Tirtodarmo Haryono.
4. Mayor Jenderal Siswondo Parman.
5. Brigadir Jenderal Donald Isaac Panjaitan.
6. Brigadir Jenderal Sutoyo Siswomiharjo.
7. Letnan Satu Pierre Andreas Tendean.
They are remembered as patriots who remained loyal to the nation and rejected communism.
